Graphic T-shirts need a little more care than plain fabric because repeated heat, friction and harsh chemicals can affect both the garment and the print. The care label on the exact product should always come first, but these habits are useful for everyday printed T-shirts.
1. Read the care label first
Different fabrics and print methods can require different treatment. Follow the garment-specific washing, drying and ironing instructions before using any general rule.
2. Turn the T-shirt inside out
Turning a printed T-shirt inside out reduces direct rubbing against the graphic during washing. It also helps protect the visible surface when the shirt moves against other garments.
3. Use cool water when the care label allows it
Excessive heat can be hard on fabric, colour and printed areas. A cool wash is a sensible default when the product care instructions allow it.
4. Wash with similar colours
Keep light garments with other light colours and darker shirts with similar dark colours. New strongly coloured garments can transfer dye, so sorting matters.
5. Avoid harsh treatment on the print
Do not scrub the printed area aggressively or pour concentrated bleach or stain remover directly over the artwork. If a stain needs treatment, follow the garment and cleaning-product instructions carefully.
6. Keep high heat away from graphics
Excessive dryer or ironing heat can damage some print finishes. When possible, use gentle drying and never place a hot iron directly on top of the graphic.
7. Do not wring the shirt aggressively
Twisting a wet T-shirt can stretch the fabric and place unnecessary stress on printed areas. Handle the garment gently and reshape it before drying if needed.
8. Store printed T-shirts clean and dry
Make sure the garment is fully dry before folding or storing it. Avoid leaving a printed shirt crushed while damp.
